Minnesota High Tech Association:  www.mhta.org

An association of technology companies in Minnesota, the MHTA's web site provides a membership directory, calender of events, and membership information.
   

Minnesota Technology:  www.minnesotatechnology.org/

This organization helps existing small and medium-sized companies apply, develop, and commercialize technology.  Their site provides a searchable directory of Minnesota technology companies and indicates whether or not they export.

U.S. Federal Government

Best Market Reports:  www.stat-usa.gov/tradtest.nsf

Part of the National Trade Data Bank (NTDB), these reports detail the best markets for U.S. exporters.  Also included on this site are International Market Insight (IMI) reports and Industry Sector Analysis (ISA) reports.  *Subscription required (MTO Library has full access)*

This exporter service offers a wealth of information about the IT sector.  Included are ExportIt reports which examine markets across the world, as well as information about regulations, tariffs and taxes, standards, government policies, industry issues, trade shows, industry statistics, and regional pages.
   

Showcase Europe:  www.sce.doc.gov/us.html

A Department of Commerce service, this site aims to promote U.S. Exports to Europe, providing market briefs for specific industries and countries, trade events, and more.   The "Information & Communications Technology" link offers guides to European ICT markets, doing business in the European Union, relevant policies and regulations, and country reports.

The Trade Development site at the ITA provides industry specific programs and analysts to assist U.S. exporters. Clicking on the “Computers” link leads to the Office of Information Technologies.
   

Trade Information Center:  www.ita.doc.gov/TICFrameset.html

Another ITA site, the Trade Information Center is a good place to start for exporting assistance.  The site provides Schedule B numbers, FAQs, Export Resources, Industry Information, and more.
   

U.S. Commercial Service:  www.usatrade.gov

The Commercial Service has a series of industry sector reports which can be searched by country or industry sector.  These reports can be accessed by choosing the "Market Research" link and registering (free).

IT Trade-Related Organizations

Bitpipe.com:  www.bitpipe.com

With in-depth Information Technology information, BitPipe offers company information and a subject directory that includes Market Research, Telecommunications, Software Development, and so on.
   
Ebusiness Forum:  www.ebusinessforum.com
A service of the Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU), this site provides business intelligence for the global ebusiness community.  The “Doing ebusiness in...” link provides news, market profiles, ebusiness readiness rankings, and infrastructure information for specific countries.  The “Research” link provides market trends, country/regional profiles, and further resources.
   

European Information Technology Observatory (EITO):  www.eito.com

The EITO provides an overview of the European market for information and communications technology.  Their annual report provides information on European markets, the evolution of the European e-economy, statistical outlooks, and more.
   

European Survey of the Information Society (ESIS):  http://europa.eu.int/ISPO/esis/default.htm

A project of the European Commission’s Information Society, this page provides data from the European Information Technology sector.  Resources include statistical overviews, basic facts and indicators, regulatory developments, and more.  Each resource can be searched by country.
   

World Information Technology and Services Alliance (WITSA):  www.witsa.org

A consortium of 41 information technology associations from around the world, WITSA works to facilitate international trade and investment in IT products and services.  Their site provides links to global IT resources, a newsletter, and papers on topics such as e-readiness and regulatory reform.
