Agricultural Utilization Research Institute (AURI):  www.auri.org

This group works to create economic benefit by identifying and creating new markets for new or existing agricultural commodities, ingredients, and products.  Their offices are located throughout the state in Crookston, Marshall, Morris, St. Paul, and Waseca.

The official government site, this page has many helpful web links, agricultural assistance information, and various publications.

Links to agriculture and rural issues.  A long list of resources include Minnesota organizations and agricultural magazines.

U.S. Federal Government

Economic and Statistics System:  http://usda.mannlib.cornell.edu

Maintained by the Mann Library at Cornell University, this site contains USDA reports and datasets on international agriculture and trade issues.  This data can be searched by subject or geographic region.
   
ERS : Economic Research Service of the USDA:  www.ers.usda.gov
This site contains a great deal of useful, up-to-date information, including exchange rates for all agricultural exports, various publications such as Foreign Agricultural Trade of the U.S., World Agricultural Supply and Demand Estimates, and a Production, Supply and Distribution Database.  There is also a list of 115 Subject Specialists that can be contacted about topics ranging from countries, to policy issues, to specific products.
   
FAS : Foreign Agricultural Service:  www.fas.usda.gov
Part of the USDA, this department works to improve foreign market access for U.S. products.  Services on this web site include overseas offices, exporter assistance programs, import and export data, news releases, trade leads, and over 16,000 attaché reports.
   

FDA Food and Drug Administration:  www.fda.gov/oia/agencies.htm

This site has a list of Ministries of Health, Agriculture, and Fisheries from around the world.
 

FSIS Food Safety and Inspection Service:  www.fsis.usda.gov/OFO/export/explib.htm

The Library of Export Requirements presents information on foreign country export requirements for meat and poultry products.  They are updated frequently.
   

NASS National Agricultural Statistics Service:  www.nass.usda.gov

Along with the ERS page, the NASS page is another prime place to look for agricultural statistics. The online database allows users to create custom queries for agricultural statistics at the national, state, or county level.  Its publications include state reports, market news, and reports by commodity.
   
U.S. Trade Internet System:  www.fas.usda.gov/ustrade/
Part of the FAS site, this system offers unlimited access to the latest export and import data for agricultural, fishery, and forestry products. The service allows customized data searches using harmonized code or selected commodity groupings.  Users can also track trade trends as the database extends back to 1989.

Agricultural Trade-Related Organizations

AgNic:  www.agnic.org/

The Agriculture Network Information Center is a voluntary alliance between the National Agricultural Library, land grant universities, and other agriculture organizations.  This site is a great resource with an agriculture database, a directory of experts, links to agriculture-related Internet resources, and an online reference service.
   

CARD: Center for Agricultural and Rural Development www.card.iastate.edu

Part of the Iowa State University system, CARD conducts research in trade and agricultural policy issues, agricultural risk management policy, and food and nutrition.
   

Food and Agriculture Organization:  www.fao.org

Part of the United Nations, this organization works to promote agricultural development and improved nutrition across the globe.  The site provides FAOSTAT, statistical databases on various subjects, including agriculture.
   

Mid-America International Agri-Trade Council (MIATCO):  www.miatco.org

MIATCO is a private, non-profit association that offers services to help U.S. companies and producers promote their Midwestern food and agricultural products in foreign markets.  Their site offers sections on Why export?, Export Assistance, Trade Events, Export Resources, and the Top 25 export markets for a specific product.
   

OECD: Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development:  www.oecd.org/agr/

The Food, Agriculture & Fisheries portion of the OECD web site focuses on such topics as Agricultural Policies, Markets and Trade, and International Standardization.  The site also offers the Agricultural Market Access Database, with agricultural statistics from over 50 countries.  Various publications, including Agricultural Outlook, are available online or for purchase from this site.
   

U.S. Dairy Export Council:  www.usdec.org

A non-profit organization promoting U.S. dairy exports, their site provides regulatory information, various publications, products, suppliers, and marketing services, as well as links to other dairy industry sites.
   

U.S. Meat Export Federation:  www.usmef.org

This federation provides information about U.S. meat exports, such as export statistics, supplier search, and industry related links.  The “International Meat Manual”, written in 5 languages, is a reference guide for international customers about U.S. meats and different cuts.

Agriculture Search Engines and Indexes

Agrigator:   agrigator.ifas.ufl.edu/ag.htm

This site is the Institute of Food and Agriculture’s collection of Internet sites and resources providing agricultural and biological related information.  It is nicely produced with many links.
   

Agriscape:  www.agriscape.com

A worldwide directory on agriculture and its surrounding industry.
   

Agrisurf:  www.agrisurf.com

With over 17,000 web sites indexed, Agrisurf is the worlds largest searchable agricultural WWW index. The web sites that are included are hand-picked by agricultural experts.
