Electronic Resources

These subscription-based online trade resources are available for use at the DEED Library:

  • Economist Intelligence Unit’s Viewswire – Delivers analysis on key economic, political, and business developments on over 200 countries.

  • Export Reference Guide – Information on current laws, regulations, policies and forms in over 200 overseas markets.

  • International Directory of Importers, Worldwide edition - Search for importers by name or product category in over 175 countries around the world.

  • International Trade Reporter – Information on laws, regulations, cases, and policy developments affecting U.S. trade, international business and major U.S. trading partners.

  • Kompass WebCompany directory of 2 million companies in 70 countries worldwide.

  • Official Export Guide – Includes country profiles, U.S. export regulations and trade services directory.

  • SRDS International Media Guides - Identify advertising opportunities in foreign business publications, consumer magazines, and newspapers.

  • Stat-USA - Includes the National Trade Databank, a federal one-stop source for international economic and trade data, international market research, trade opportunities and country analysis.

  • USA Trade Online - U.S. export and import information on 18,000 commodities world wide, including commodities by country and port-level imports & exports.

  • WISER – U.S. and state annual export data for manufacturing industries.

  • World Trade Atlas, U.S. State Export edition – All exports (e.g. manufacturing, minerals, agricultural commodities) except services.

  • World Trade Ref – An international trade reference source which includes country data, maps, trade terms and translations, treatises on the basics of international trade, and export documentation requirements.

ELM (Electronic Library for Minnesota) databases give Minnesota residents online access to magazine, journal, and newspaper articles, eBooks (electronic books), and information from other reference sources.  Funded by the Minnesota Legislature, ELM is available to all Minnesota residents.   For full information about ELM, go to http://www.elm4you.org  Some ELM databases that Minnesota exporters may find useful are:

  • Academic Search Premier – Contains indexing and full-text articles covering all academic disciplines including biology, chemistry, education, engineering, humanities, physics, psychology, religion, sociology, etc.

  •  Business Search Premier – This database contains full-text journal articles, industry reports, and market research reports    It covers all disciplines of business, including marketing, management, MIS, accounting, finance, econometrics, and economics.

  • ProQuest NewsStand Complete – Includes 350 state, national, and international papers.
